Grants For Business from the City of Sunderland

The City offers a range of financial incentives for local employers to help create new jobs.

Manufacturing businesses and some related service industries can apply for financial support for a project. We also support some e-commerce and high-tech businesses.

All grants are discretionary and applications must be made in advance.

If you are interested in developing in Sunderland please contact us, as we offer general advice and support as well as advising on financial assistance available from the Council and other sources.

Three types of grants are available from City of Sunderland Council:

1 Job creation grants

Grants are available for rent relief, basic services, interest relief, removal, relocation.

2 Exhibition Grant

3 Commercial Premises’ Improvement and Security Grants

Grants towards a range of refurbishment, improvement and security works to commercial premises may be available in specific areas of the City.
