Dear Colleague

Welcome to the Summer Term 2009 Training Programme

As always the Extended Services and Attendance Group strive to provide diverse, high quality training for the continuing professional development of practitioners within early years and child care staff delivering services in Children’s Centres.

To further develop and improve the training programme we have introduced two new sections, Section 5 will include training from the Community Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CCAMHS) team. Following on from the success of ‘Introduction to working with Dad’s and Male Carers’ which was introduced in the Spring Term we have also established a section specifically for this training called ‘Working with Fathers’. We have increased the number of courses with the expectation of extending the number of courses available each term.

For your information we have included details on the ‘Common Core’ which sets out the basic skills and knowledge needed by all people whose work brings them into regular contact with children and young people. We will be undertaking further work to help raise awareness of the ‘Common Core’ and ensure that practitioners continue to have access to training that will equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to support the six areas of expertise.

As always we pay close attention to your comments and requests and try to provide courses that you request. New courses for this term include: ‘Multicultural Festivals’, ‘Bid and Tender Management’, ‘Confidence Building Skills’ and ‘Practical Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Demand for courses offered during Spring Term was very high and we expect this to continue into the Summer Term. As always we work to strict first come first served guidelines, so if you do require a space on any of our courses, please complete the booking form provided and send it via fax, email or post as soon as possible. If you are successful in securing a place you will receive a confirmation letter which you will need to bring with you to your training session. If a course is full, you will receive a letter notifying you that you have been placed on the reserve list and should a place become available you will be sent a confirmation letter.

You will be pleased to know that the training programme is now accessible via our website www.jobsinchildcare.co.uk and all documents are available electronically should you wish to send by email. Finally, take the time to read your programme and enjoy the opportunities available to you and please remember to complete your evaluations, your thoughts and requests do make a difference!

Kind regards
