Back on the Map
Through it's 25 current projects Back on the Map often have both
jobs and training on offer. These are particularly aimed at local unemployed
residents. Ring "Back on the Map" for details or call in at the Community

East Employment and Training Centre (ETEC)
ETEC has excellent training facilities including workshops for motor
mechanics, painting, decorating and bricklaying and other trades. They
also have an IT suite for training in computers and offer training
in office administration and community work. ETEC offer training for
both adults and young people, help with reading, writing and maths
and offer work placements and help with getting a job. |
Raich Carter Centre
Raich Carter has an excellent computer training suite. The friendly
staff offer subjects like beginning computing, computer music, digital
photography and designing web pages. The centre can be used free by
local people and also offers an excellent range of computer
qualifications. |

Runs a variety of short courses including 'drop in' courses and hobby
and leisure courses. |

Offers NVQs in business administration and computers to 11-25 year
olds and also offers the Connect project for 16-18 year olds that allows
access to City of Sunderland College resources without the need to join

Offer courses for anyone 16+. Courses are suggested by the local

City of Sunderland College
The College offers lots of courses for adults and young people and
many learning centres throughout the City. The College has a computer
Learning centre in Hendon Library which also offers courses in
reading, writing and maths. They also have an Outreach Team that can
help local learners find the right course for them (see Links List).
The Tunstall Centre in Grangetown also offers Catering, Horticulture,
Brickwork and Joinery for young people. A range of courses are also
offered at Southmoor School. |
