Recycle - The Green-it Campaign in Sunderland
Green-it is a new service which will allow you to store your green garden
waste so that it can be recycled into nutrient rich, environmentally friendly
compost. This will then be collected direct from your home by the Council.
Up to 60,000 households with gardens across the City of Sunderland will be
supplied with their own brown wheeled bin. Your Green-it bin will be collected
from outside your property, from the same point you leave your wheeled bin.

We will
phase the introduction of the Green Garden Waste Collection
Service to households over February and March 2005.
Households will be supplied with a brown wheeled bin
approximately two to four weeks before collections start in
each area.
Your new brown
wheeled bin will be collected every fortnight on the same day
as your ordinary rubbish collection but the opposite fortnight
to kerb-it
collections. Collections will be less frequent between
1st December and 1st March. A collection calendar will
be delivered with your new brown bin.
