This part of the site contains information
about local shops and businesses in Pennywell.
Eventually we hope this part of the site will list details of
all the shops and businesses in the area their names, addresses,
opening times, what they sell and so on. However because this site
is new, we need local shop owners and businesses to send us this
information. Therefore for the moment we can only give a brief
guide to businesses and shopping locally and that's what is in
this part of the site.
We hope this information will be useful to local residents but

Shops on Hylton Road
There are three separate small shopping areas along Hylton Road.
Heading towards South Hylton on the left hand side are Londis
Newsagents, The Manor House Funeral Parlour and Youth Inspirations. A
Little further along past the traffic lights are Stanley Racing, Hylton
Road Butchers and the Hylton Fish and Chip shop. The third block on the
right towards the end of the road contains The Post Office and Ford and
Pennywell Legal Advice Centre. |
Shops on Portsmouth Road
The new shopping centre on Portsmouth Road contains the Pennywell
neighbourhood and Community Medical centre, The shops include a Betting
Shop, Iceland,
Gregg's, Farnsworths, Proving Partnership Works, Katie Moss Chippy,
Tullochs Chemist, The Post Office and the new Pennywell Community
Business Community Opportunities shop. |
City Centre
The East End and Hendon are within walking
distance of the City centre shops. The Bridges of course are well worth
checking out and also
suitable for anyone in a wheel chair. |

Pennywell Industrial Estate
Located on the
outskirts of the estate heading toward the main road back into
Sunderland. Pennywell Industrial Estate, it is quite small
but does contain some very well known firms like The Sunderland Echo,
Dunlop,
Dewhirsts and NTL. |
