St David's Community Group

outside image of St DavidsSt David’s church is a church that has opened their doors to the local community. They seek to be at the heart of the community by offering various resources to accommodate community projects and activities.

With over 30 years experience working in the community they are one of the longest serving organisations in the local area.

At St David’s there is something for All the family.


Kids club imageKids Club
One of the longest running groups in St David’s. The kids club runs every Monday evening 6pm till 7.30pm. It has a varied programme facilitating ages from 4yrs – 11 yrs olds. The club leader is Mrs Tracy Gooch, a volunteer in the local community for the past 18 years


Performing Arts Group (PAG)
Set up from the impact of outsiders for America, the PAG is set up to use the talents of the individuals. Specialising in the area of puppets, the PAG have performed a number of great shows including a Northern Children’s Retreat as well as Valentine’s show and Easter. The group is open for people that are above the age of 18 with an interest in performing, no matter what the ability or experience.


St Davids Garden ProjectGroundworx Connect Course

Working two days per week can earn young male people £30 per week.  Learning both theoretical work and practical it is a good route into the world of work, with valuable experience. example of course content

Homework Club
Does your child need extra encouragement or support in the area of homework?

St David’s has been running a homework club every other Tuesday for the last three years. This support is open to all ages irrespective of school background. With two locally qualified teachers all work to the National Curriculum standards. The club runs fortnightly on Tuesdays from 6pm till 7pm.

St David runs music lessons by a local secondary school teacher instruments include drums, guitar, trumpet, bass guitar and vocals.  There is two groups meeting these groups are not due to ability but size.  The groups meet on Sundays from 2pm till 3pm and then from 3pm till 4pm.  The groups welcome people of all ages and ability catering for young and old alike.


British Sign Language Course (BSL)
Wanting to learn a new interest, or have someone you know who uses BSL? This non-accredited course is perfect to get an introduction to this area. Running on Tuesday’s once a fortnight from 7.15pm till 9pm, the course is ran by Sunderland Deaf Society.


Craft Club
Have an interest in card making, scrapbook’s as well as other area’s of craft, then this will be perfect for you, meeting weekly on a Tuesday evening from 7pm until 9pm, a group of ladies (all ages) meet up to share experience, and tools in order to create a variety of crafts.


Young dads group
The young dads group runs weekly, every Wednesday from 9am till 1pm.  For more information contact young dads worker line 0191 553 2381.

Coffee Morning

Runs every Thursday from 9.30am till 12pm, everyone welcome.  The coffee morning is run by volunteers.


Youth

St David's youth group celebrates just over 32 years of their youth group.  They celebrate the joy pf providing a safe, fun and modern environment for all, the youth within the local community.  Some of the most recent activities include pizza night, talent contest, multi-cultural events as well as visits to local sporting centres.  regular residential are to places such as Kingsway Outdoor Adventure Centre, Edinburgh, Glasgow and many more.
