CEED
Is an environmental charity established in Sunderland for over 20 years. Volunteers are always required to help with conservation work. If you would like to work outdoors, get some fresh air, keep fit and meet new people then why not join the team? No experience necessary as full training is provided as well as tea and coffee. You will gain new skills, have fun and have an enjoyable time. You will need boots and suitable clothing, so why not come along and give it a go as ‘together we can make a difference’. The CEED mini bus picks up at Park Lane Interchange and any fares incurred traveling to and from the interchange will be reimbursed.
WEARSIDE FIRST CREDIT UNION LTD
Administrative Support Volunteer
Wearside First Credit Union Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation who aims to provide savings and low cost loan facilities to the people of Sunderland allowing them to take control of their finances. We require an experienced volunteer to work from our Head Office in Sunderland providing staff with administrative support. The role requires experience of dealing with customers / enquiries both face to face and over the telephone, dealing with daily transactions and other basic administrative duties.
WRVS
Sunderland Eye Infirmary Tea Bar provides patients and visitors with refreshments. Volunteers are urgently needed to enable the tea bar to open as often as required. Volunteers will make tea, serve snacks and drinks to customers, deal with cash using a simple till. Replenish stock and help keep the tea bar clean and tidy. Expenses are paid and insurance cover provided. Please help if you can.
Diabetes UK Sunderland Group
Need a volunteer Secretary to organise the smooth running of the group. Duties will include answering letters, organising speakers, promoting the group, taking minutes and other general administrative duties. An interest in Diabetes and some clerical skills are required.
Lifeline Project Sunderland
Volunteers aged 18+ are required to help provide support to service
users and information concerning drug misuse and other drug services.
Opportunities also exist for local community integration to inform
people about drug misuse.
Sunderland Countryside Rangers
Conservation volunteers are urgently needed to get involved in conservation and management tasks in the countryside around the whole of the Sunderland area. No special skills are required. There are also opportunities for people who want to get involved in our publicity campaigns.
Oxfam Charity Shop
in Sunderland urgently require volunteer shop assistants with some retail experience to help sort clothing and bric-a-brac, price and hang clothes and operate the cash and switch machine. Volunteers need to cover shop opening times from Monday to Saturday 9.30 – 5.00. If you are friendly, trustworthy, reliable and able to work as part of a team and have an hour or two to spare they would love to hear from you.
Young Timebank
Volunteer facilitators are needed to encourage and motivate young people in Sunderland schools and colleges to create and manage their own community projects. Examples could range from setting up student radio stations to campaigning against racism.
You will be required to give 2 hours a week during school hours. Full training, expenses and on-going support will be provided.

(North East Council on Addictions) are looking for volunteer

a good listener, enthusiastic, non-judgemental, positive and would
be interested in offering support and advice to individuals who
need a little extra help with social support, housing and finances,
then you may be just the person they are looking for. Full training

VICTIM SUPPORT NORTHUMBRIA are looking for Volunteers with an interest in working with Vulnerable and Intimidated Witnesses, to give extra support and reassurance on the day or before hand at court or at home. Witnesses may be adults who are distressed or suffering from a mental illness, or have a physical or learning disability. Mainly the role will relate to children under the age of 17yrs. Experience of working with children could be beneficial but is not a necessity. Volunteers will need to undertake a basic training course, one day a week, for 4 weeks, complete an induction course for 6 months and spend time within Witness Service at Magistrates and Crown Court to see how the procedures work first hand before undertaking a home visit unaccompanied. A course is due to start on 4th November from 9.30am – 4pm at Wallsend. Travel expenses will be paid.
