Sunderland Centre for Voluntary Service
(SCVS) Is a voluntary organisation, which was established for general
charitable purposes in 1973. It is a registered charity and a
limited company by guarantee, that serves as a voluntary sector
intermediary body to support and develop community groups, charities
and voluntary organisations throughout the City of Sunderland
and surrounding areas.
SCVS is an organisation, which is set up to support, promote and
develop local voluntary action. SCVS supports its members by a range
of services and by acting as a voice for the voluntary and community
sector.
The purpose of Sunderland Council for Voluntary Service is to help
the voluntary organisations to function more effectively, improving
the lot of the individual.
The mission statement is, in effect, a shorthand description of
the work of SCVS.
