Bullying

What to do if you are being bullied

  • Tell someone you trust
  • Keep a diary of what happens
  • Call a help line
  • Don't give up and accept it

Remember no one deserves to be bullied Your mobile phone company can help you deal with nasty calls or texts

anti bullyingWhat is bullying?
Bullying happens when someone picks on someone and makes their life miserable. It can be in different forms from kicking someone or sending nasty text messages to name calling and spreading rumours. Bullies pick on differences. Young people have been bullied because of their size, accent, colour of their skin, interests, or just because they have been the new kid at school. Bullies are often insecure themselves and pick on people to make themselves seem more important and powerful. "If you're bullied you should tell someone..."

Someone who's bullied is made to feel miserable and they might start thinking less of themselves and even think life's not worth living. But someone who's bullied is never to blame for a bully's stupid and bad behaviour.

Act now, don't put up with it If you are being bullied it can feel like you are on your own.

Perhaps the hardest thing for many is to go to a teacher and tell them what's happening as they think it will make the problem worse. But telling a teacher or an adult you trust is the best thing you can do. Help and advice is out there. Don't accept bullying. Also you could check out the BBC bulling website with real people saying what they think when they are being bullied BBC Bulling Help.
